Tap Warehouse

Treble digit growth for online only retailer

Tap Warehouse was a brand new company back in 2011, set up by Island Bathrooms, a bathroom retailer based in southern England. Island bathrooms have over 35 years’ experience and identified that there is a large and lucrative market selling taps directly to UK consumers at discounted prices. Tap Warehouse approached Gibe in early 2011 to create all their branding and a new ecommerce store. We created their new site to run on the GibeCommerce platform and with an Umbraco front end. The store currently has over 5000 SKUs within the store, growing 30% in the last year, which is being ably supported by Gibe’s own in-house platform. The site has shown incredible growth since launch in September 2011 and the client has since commissioned a second ecommerce site for their Island Bathrooms brand due for launch September 2013.

The site is built on GibeCommerce and provides sophisticated administration tools so Tap Warehouse staff can manage products, stock, orders, customer details and site content easily and conveniently. The core GibeCommerce system was further enhanced so that the highly configurable bathroom suites can be sold using the normal administration system. Users can upgrade individual elements of a bathroom suite using the simple onsite tools. The onsite search has also been overhauled allowing users to enter partial or misspelt terms and still find the product they are looking for.

In the last year to July 2013, Tap Warehouse has seen outstanding growth in transactions of 133% and an increase in turnover of 146%. Conversion rates continue to grow with a further .67% increase to 2.4% averagely with average order value also increasing by 5.5%. The continued growth is due to our work in optimising the site with design and functional enhancements. Planned development for 2014 will be to engage with abandoned basket shoppers and develop a responsive design to optimise the experience across devices.
