In Autumn 2015 UWE Bristol partnered with digital agency Gibe (that’s us!) and creative agency Activation to help them develop a new online identity.

UWE Bristol had already spent a lot of time developing their brand identity. What was missing was a digital interpretation and a fresh set of responsive and fully accessible HTML templates to apply to www.uwe.ac.uk.

Together we collaboratively developed a new set of considered wireframes and some top-notch designs and have brought UWE Bristol’s offline brand guidelines to life digitally.

The UWE Bristol website is one with many invested key audiences ranging from prospective and current students of all types, to staff, researchers, parents, schools, and press. At each stage of the UX and design we made sure we were providing a user interface that would give UWE Bristol the flexibility to cater to all.

Our reference point was always considering the balance between information and inspiration for each page. The output is something we feel is very fresh and modern and yet representative of UWE Bristol as a serious education institute.

The site templates themselves were built to the very latest in best practice HTML5, CSS 3, responsive techniques and AA accessibility standards.
And all of this was accomplished in a relatively very short time scale.

It helped massively that the UWE Bristol project team are an absolute delight to work with!

We asked Matt Owen, UWE Bristol’s Digital Marketing Manager for a quick quote, and he said:

Working closely with the University’s web team, Gibe delivered a suite of web templates in tight timescales showing strong awareness of web standards and cross-platform design.

An open dialogue with Gibe and their commitment to making the project a success were key in delivering the site launch on time.

So there you have it.

Many folk at Gibe are UWE Bristol alumni themselves and so there was a special feeling about getting to work with them, but to be honest everyone has really enjoyed this work and we hope you agree the end result is a great online experience.

This is a site Gibe are very proud to put our name to.
